The person with NPD is more has more fragile capacity to understand what's going on for themselves and for others so they kind of overly invest their sense of self worth in these really concrete achievements. And then when that falls apart or gets challenged by the world. Again, there's that rapid collapse into into hopelessness and despair as a clinician.
