The Figure of the Child in Psychoanalysis
In 1977, opponents of the Equal Rights Amendment were arguing that worth the ERA to pass, it would mandate unisexual bathrooms. Three things happening at the same time of Florida in 1977, all of them also using the language of protecting children in some way,. and this is, we are still living in that moment, right? There's a longer history of invocation of children in defense of the most noxious politics, you know, racist policies for example.
