The Power of Stories

The story of Yashiang has its roots in ancient China, during the years between the Qing and Han dynasties. It's a story that I really don't need to dissect for you, do I? The young woman who's lost her father, the step family that abuses her, and the magical assistance that leads her to a grand celebration and a lost shoe. But it's not just a Chinese interpretation of the story we've all grown up with. In fact, this story came about long before Disney gave us the animated classic, and before Drew Barrymore helped us see the character in a new light.
