Are We Singing?

The genetic evidence for the genes that are involved in human speech date at least half a million years ago. There's a particular gene that is required for humans for speech and the amplifiers had that form of the gene. The form of the hyoid bone and the throat, the form of the inner ear, all of these things are the sort of modern arrangement that allow us to speak now. We took a bird-like way of being which is to communicate through sound and combined it with a primate way of organizing culture,. That's what generated human language.
