Thunderbolt Hubbing for Macbook Pro

Before i put in the o w c thunderbolt hub, it was this 87 wats of power that charged my macbook pro. Now with two devices offering power, i can charge my iphone. View of the dock, and the mac makes no complaints at all. My suspicion is that the dock and the hub somehow form an alliance and maybe add their power,. teliver together, giving the laptop whatever it needs.
