Can You Lead With a Joke?
St. Benedict says that a monk shouldn't laugh, right? That in fact, it's one of the steps of humility. I actually went to one of our old monks and asked him about it. And he said it's basically the difference between pleasant and uplifting and funny,. But the last joke is cruel, right? And totally inappropriate. It's hard to know when you're going to cross that line.
