In the 19 sixties, the government wanted to promote the cultivation of a special variety of wheat. And it thus laid the foundation for what would become the green revolution. The plan was to incentivise cul ation by promising to buy the produce at a guaranteed price. But now with international prices soaring, farmers are able to sell their wheat for two thousand 700 rupees,. or quintal this is way higher than the current government m s p of two thousand 15 rupees.
