In the Proverbs, Solomon says, my son, give me your heart and let your eyes observe my ways. He just cuts right there to the heart of parenting. What he's aiming for isn't first to get their child conformed to the standard externally, but to actually win their child's heart. The goal is that they would love your law because they love you and they know you love them.
