I wonder if our need to validate ourselves externally is what leads us to the things that we found ourselves in, as opposed to finding that sense of validation internally. And I often wonder if art is another manifestation of the same thing. The fact that we can externally say we know this is an apple, maybe like you say, mythology is coming back to the fear of the unknown.
