The Benefits of Early Mobility for Patients
A lot of this early mobility is not particularly skilled, it just has to be something. Patients really need to be using their muscles and ideally bearing weight to get a lot of this benefit. The other side of this coin is delirium. Someone who becomes delirious in the ICU is more likely to die. And yet there's not really a treatment for it. It's like a lactate. Brain failure, like you have a kidney failure or heart failure. You don't sedate them. You prevent the delirium to begin with and you mobilize them as soon as possible.
