The Assassination of My Mother
Malta's most famous journalist was assassinated by a remote controlled car bomb in October 2017. Her son says her death shocked the Maltese people, and also revealed weaknesses within the European Union. He said there were no corruption investigations into his mother's work because of collapse of rule of law. The press had largely been silenced on several key topics due to abusive lawsuits or threats of abusive lawsuits, he adds.
