Stateless Persons in the World - Is This the Official Number?
In 2013, the Constitutional Court stripped citizenship from 200,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent. Unable to prove their Dominican nationality, this group have now been asked to register as foreigners and a left stateless. Monica Sandvig's job as senior coordinator for statelessness puts her right at the heart of tackling this issue. "We are the flesh and blood of that problem," she says.
