"We're hijacking that system, so we basically take bacteria's Cas9 complex... Complex? ...because the Cas9 complex. But now we can maybe alter what's inside it," he says. "Because we're essentially removing machinery from a bacteria, it's to us as humans, it's foreign proteins."
