Some of the factors that we know play a role in our anxiety, for example, can relate to what our mothers ate before they were even pregnant with us. We have animal models showing that the artificial sweetener, aspartame, can cause anxiety in mice,. But then it can cause Anxiety in that mouse's child and then that Mouse's child. So two generations aspartame can result in metabolic changes in cells that confer risk for anxiety.
