There used to be a bunch of people who were like saying the quiet part out loud about how it would be terrible if humanity got cheap, abundant, clean energy. Because then there would be no stopping rapacious capitalists from paving the planet and doing all sorts of things, right? And at least high energy costs prevent all sorts of economic development. I mean, that's one of the good things about climate change is that it's forced a lot of people to let go of some of those stupid ideas.
