Russian Security Council Official Says Ukraine Joining NATO Would Guarantee World War III

Last month when Putin ordered the partial mobilization, he said in his speech that Russia could use all of the weapons at its disposal to defend its territorial integrity. Russian officials have insisted that Putin's comments were nothing new because they fall within Russia's military doctrine. But Putin, the warning was significant because Russia has now extended its territory by annexing areas in Ukraine under its control. And other Russian officials have explicitly said that they could defend these new territories with nuclear weapons. So these warnings and threats, whatever you want to call them, they're definitely significant.
