stephen rose: The classical issue in debates about criminal responsibility was to try to decide whether a person was in men's raar in sound mind, when they performed a particular act. Now what's happening at the moment is that we are seeing a surge of e claims made, and that there are, for example, genetic determinants of criminal behavior. And i'm pretty dubious about the olagely ams that is ting. I've come rather gloomily to the conclusion that, however much we advance in the newrer sciences, taking it out of the social and back into the realm of medicine is probably a mistake.
