The Importance of Natural Selection in Evolution
evolution evolves by a number of mutual processes like random drift. But the most important one for us to understand, at least for this conversation is evolution by natural selection. The reason that it has a special status is because you can reason on the basis of natural selection in a way that doesn't require any knowledge of the physical makeup of the organism. This provides what I call a third way of thinking. Before natural selection thinking, you only had two ways to explain something: Physical makeup or some theological explanation.
