Vina dubal: The recent passage of six bills granting new rights and protections to delivery couriers in new york city after sustained pressure by gig workers seems like a really good example as well. Dubal: I was kind of concerned that getting these bills pass was going to sort o f take the wind out of the wings of any sort of legislative energy towards meeting the other demands of the work force.Dubal: What, if anything, we need to be doing is growing the rights that workers have, instead of limiting them.
Paris Marx is joined by Veena Dubal to discuss how Proposition 22 and the contract status of gig workers is reminiscent of the United States’ history of racial wage codes, which codified lower wages for Black workers.
