The Tigers of the Sundarbans

I would like to understand why only the tigers of the Sundarbans are traditionally man-eaters. There are many folklores like due to the salty water they drink, etc. But I haven't seen any scientific report anywhere. That is not something that mammals or animals do. And yes, this region is home to a whole lot of tigers. It's one of the largest tiger populations that still survives in the world.
