The Importance of Keeping Shabbos in New York
A person who violates Shabbos in New York has committed the same capital crime as someone who commits violent Shabbo in New Shalaim. But he's not keeping him for the same reason. In New Shalaim he's keeping Shabbos because that's what the law was supposed to accomplish. The Shabbos should be kept in the land of Israel. That's the difference in the motivation. How does that end to the scar of the other mitzvah when you're cruising the arse? I haven't seen it explicitly discussed. My instinct tells me that it shouldn't affect the sire at all. It should not affect the reward at all.
