In the 19 sixties and seventies, many black families felt briton's education system was not serving their children well. A leaked report from the london borough of haringay stated that schools with a big populate of west indian or caribbean immigrants would end up with lower academic standards. And so, as you can imagine, black activists, like the man i spoke to, gus john, decided to set up schools to supplement mainstream ing.
