The Pentagon does not know what is keeping these objects aloft. The US has been launching its own surveillance balloons for the United States, our own balloons to look for criminals and stuff since 2019. So they're blowing them up because we probably want to look tough and decisive. This looks to me entirely a military propaganda operation. I think we're just showing that we can blow up and detect small things so don't try it. That's what it looks like.
