The story that's always told is that certainly British English, there's the Celtic language. The Romans invaded Britain about 50 years after Christ and brought Latin. And then after that, over a long period of time, well, we were invaded by the Normans in 1066. That's basically French France. But it's probably more complicated than that. We have words from various places as well. We have English is influenced by all sorts of other languages too. I was interested in that.
