The South Sea Scheme

Past podcast subject, william hogarth published an engraving called the south sea scheme in 17 21. This would have been one of his earlier works. The inscription at the bottom alludes to this idea that this mixing of women and migrants and non conforming christians was involved in the collapse. By the mid nineteenth century, people were looking at this in terms of mass psychology.
