The Impact of Technology on the US Economy

As economies transition over time, they start out very much focused on agriculture and then it becomes much more manufacturing. And now it's services. One reason the US is wealthier than Mexico and other developing countries is the mix of the economy has changed to be much more service oriented. It's not that manufacturing went away. It's just that the US is much more efficient with its manufacturing.
