The Importance of Being a Hard Worker

Rose Buffett founded the furniture store in Omaha in 1937 at the age of 43 and grew it into a business with annual profits of over $15 million. She would stop to speak with customers in her thick Russian Yiddiss accent, encouraging them to make a decision and assuring them that they wouldn't get a better deal anywhere. Rose tells the story of how she began to be involved in Isadore, her husband's store. Her oldest daughter is named Francis Francis taught her mother how to speak English after she came home.
