Tom Clancy: My understanding from Brett's work is that this emergence into new forms of complexity comes from tension, moments of tension. So I'm just interested in how they interact with each other in this sort of wider theory. But yes, so the tension is caused by competition, but that competition, the tension caches out in a descent into chaos. And it's in that chaos is where you get the slack that allows for novelty to emerge.
