The Pandemic and Its Implications
If you're a utilitarian, you think it's better to cause the death of one innocent if that means you can save five others. Medical ethics has taken the view that if somebody is on a ventilator and some one else needs a ventilator, the person who is on the lator has priority. But in the pandemic, i think that has shifted a bit - particularly because there are many older people affected by the pandemic. Clearly, you're choosing some lives over others but possibly you may be saving more lives too....
