Terms of Endearment
When characters start shedding tears, for some reason, readers resist the emotion. So we should try to show characters sorrow in our dialogue without tears. Here is Larry McMurkery's Terms of Endearment. Two little boys are losing their mother, who is dying of cancer. Notice though that nobody's crying and there's even some anger.
