Taking Advantage of Experience and End Effects

People tend to remember more about the beginning and the end of any episode. It feels like there's more progress when you get to a stage when things are easy, but you don't overdo the easy bit. I wonder whether you can take advantage of end effects. People actually tend to rate how painful a long experience was based much more strongly on what happened at the beginning and at the end than what happened in the middle.
