The Blindness of Religious Leaders

The delegation had no doubt walked up to Jesus that morning with the purpose to undo him publicly by questioning his authority. They wanted to test his metal and to embarrass him perhaps to see if because of his lack of training in traditional forms of rabbinical recognition or engagement he was up to it. But what ended up happening was instead Jesus publicly raised the question of their ability even to judge such a matter at all. The irony, this is not what they expected. It's as if they are unfamiliar with God himself. Even they couldn't escape Jesus' authority. I pray that we all recognize this. Do you? What do you make of Jesus' authority? Let's pray.
