I have my doubts that they really see him as the great long term option. And so kicking the can for one year seems like the way to go. It really comes down to value if I do think if you if they can keep him on a reasonable contract, meaning less than what Derek Henry got. But yeah, you obviously don't want to give him like a big contract.
