Sam Smith vs Tom Petty

Tom Petty is almost famous for looking the other way when people happen to sound like him. He's been quoted as laughing it off when last night by the strokes appeared to rip off American girl saying his early stuff. There's a similar story about the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Danny California sounding like Last Dance with Mary Jane. Tom Petty either sued because he didn't believe the denial or he was offended because Sam Smith didn't know him and not because the song sounded alike.
