Computers Are the Grave Diggers of Chinese Characters
In the 80s, China was forced to conduct and tabulate their senses with pencil and paper. Professor Wang saw his first fully formed Western computer in a local printing shop. He says he looked down at the keyboard attached to the computer and saw 70,000 characters on it. That would be the equivalent of trying to get all 26 letters of the Latin alphabet onto less than one key.
