The Socratic Method
The socratic method is sometimes called the negative way, riti. It's sort of alined with what people in the hermanutic and theological traditions will call the apothatic mode. Socrates doesn't prove that he knows anything, but he proves that through the conversation, at least pericles doesn't know anything.
