The Crisis of Capitalism in Europe

Capitalism became its own thing with the eventual legalization of the socialist party in the 18 eighties. That is the recognition by capital, in the form of the holenzolerns and bismarck that they could not deal with the coordinated and effective resistance of the working class. So they had to give them a say. And what that meant was downward redistribution, redistribution of surplus, so that you're getting exploited, but not as much. The difference feels good.
