Herman Von Bookshofden and the Livonian Brothers of the Sword

Herman von Bookshofden was invited to be Bishop of the new Christian Cathedral established at Dorapat. Little is known about Herman but he may have been in lands controlled by the sword brothers before his appointment there. This would be because his younger brother Albert was a fundamental part of the establishment of the Livonian brothers of the sword. The two brothers were of noble stock belonging to the Bookshofen family whose village of origin was in lower Saxony.
