Is There a Difference Between Symbolic AI and Machine Learning?

A lot of people in AI want to build something that acts intelligently but don't have a deep desire to understand necessarily how it does it. You know, you don't see so much of focus on understanding mechanisms that you see in psychology which is all about that. There's a contrast there. Yeah. I think that it's a difference. One thing I wonder about because the kind of seeds of some of the debates we're having today really began long ago with the connectionists to different camps. What did those debates look like when you were just getting started in the field when you were working with Hostetter? Those debates are very similar to the kinds of debates we'reHaving today.
