How to Survive Without Speaking in Japan

If you're living in the countryside, you have to have a car. You can't really survive without one or incredibly patient friends who give you lifts everywhere. I just got lifts off the local ALT. We were kind of tearing around the Japanese countryside in her Mitsubishi. What did she drive? No, it was a Toyota Corolla. It's quite funny. Yeah, had a fantastic time. And you're going to have to learn Japanese very quickly. Compared to being in Tokyo, where you can survive without speaking. You can not just get by with English. You actually get by without speaking.
