The Housing Market: A Game Changer
The data next week will be focused on consumer spending and PCE inflation. Consumer confidence likely strengthened following a large upsize in the preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment index. Durable goods orders and shipments are likely to be sideways in May. Manufacturing output has been surprisingly resilient in recent months but forward-looking indicators continue to point to an industrial slowdown in the second half of this year.
