The IRIS-T Is a Layered Defense Against Ballistic Missiles, but It's Not Designed for That.

The IRIS-T system is not designed to defend against ballistic missiles. This is why I said you need a layered defense, other systems that are optimized for trying to destroy ballistic missiles. There was an announcement this morning that 14 NATO Allies and Finland will develop a European Sky Shield initiative. It would be very interesting if NATO were to say to Ukraine, all right, look, you're not going to join right now. But these are the systems we've bought. If you bought the same, they could just come and plug and play. So I wonder if that's possibly a conversation for another day about future security guarantees for Ukraine.
