I mean, the tradition that I'm most attracted to is not unproblematic. It has to be unpacked in various ways and not everything about it translates. The New Deal coalition was the last time Catholics voted as a unified block before kind of cultural polarization set in. There were also all these kind of complicated characters, you know, progressive farmers, etc., who weren't necessarily progressive in the cultural sense we would think of today. So it was much more of a mixed bag of ideology, but it sort of worked.
