Paul was going around preaching the gospel, being stoned and shipwrecked. But Paul sees that as lighting a candle in that place, which will not be put out. Most of the people in Paul's churches were ordinary poor people who would live in Thessalon-Nikra all their lives. A lot of them were slaves. What did it mean for them to follow Jesus?
