Omar Ibn Khotab and Saad Ibn Abi Wa Qas

The Persians sent out an all-out assault on the Muslims at a pivotal battle called the Battle of the Bridge which was near the Euphrates River. In this battle the Persians used elephants and they were actually victorious. When Omar Ibn Khotab heard about these dramatic losses in Persia he knew he had to make some serious changes. One of the major changes he had to do was remove the ban that Abu Bakr had put in place on those who took part in the wars of apostasy. He also made one of the most prominent companions still alive, Saad ibn Abi Wa Qas as the primary Muslim general in Iraq that is Persia. We will discuss the outcome of this battle
