The last time lafer m on the blog really address the issue was in march 20 thirteenth, when kentucky senator ran palled at a 13 hour a filibuster of john brennon's nomination as c i a director. The word philibuster came into common usage some time around the 18 fifties and is related to pirates. There were attempts to establish slave colonies by william walker, who was one of the most famous pirates of the time.
