The Eurogroup's Proposal for a More Complete Banking Union
The European Commission has published its proposal for crisis management and deposit insurance, CMDI. It was born from the failure of negotiations to complete the banking union a year ago. The Eurogroup decided in June last year that they were not going to make progress any time soon on these issues. So we try to do something more limited which is incremental improvements to the crisis management framework. But there's probably not a lot of likelihood that the proposal can be adopted before the European Parliament election in spring 2024.
