CPI and the Shelter Component
The revised data suggests that inflation was weaker in last year's first half compared to the second half. The disinflationary impulse that the equity market was focused on was not as strong as initially thought and was nearly non-existent. So, if you are increasing the shelter component, you're just slowing down year over year even more,. It also kind of puts it more in line with core, which we'll talk about here in a second.
