Are Humans Able to Experience Pain More Than We Can?
John Sutter: There is a good case that non human animals can experience pain more than we can, or at least the isolated feeling of pain n a specific moment. The inability to distance oneself psychologically from the experience you're having could potentially mean that you're trapped in that sensation like yu and i are. But maybe there isn't so much of a distinction between humans and cows and humans and whales, of course, with a distinction more as between humans and insects and crop farming,. E.g., plants are alive, but are not sentient in any way that we recognize as being morally relevant.
