Freedom Without Self Mastery Is a Disaster
Most external authority is there to keep our flesh in check. Obedience isn't when you agree, it's when you do what he says whether you agree or not. For followers of jesus, of our own free will, we place ourselves under his authority. We're actually in a training ground to reign in our flesh and become the kind of people who eventually have the city to handle freedom with grace.
